Finally, the wait is over as Microsoft has launched office Preview Applications for Android tablets, running Lollipop. The company brings Word, Excel and PowerPoint to these midsize devices.

The best thing about the application is that it works much like the iOS versions, enabling users to develop and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations, which will sync with OneDrive, so users can work with anywhere they want. Moreover, the applications also have support for x86 processors that one finds in many mid range tablets.

People, who wanted to use the new previews, just need to ask for permission to join the testing group on Google+. You can easily access the “become a tester” pages for each of the three apps once you have done with the permission part.

Now, the Android versions of PowerPoint, Word and Excel instantly allow you to browse and open recent docs from your OneDrive or Dropbox accounts. Using different handy templates, you can easily develop new projects as these templates are fully customizable, enabling you to fill in your own details to develop excellent docs, spreadsheets and presentations.

Last Year in November, the preview for Office apps on Android tablets started, allowing users sample office as a work in progress, the feedback from which Microsoft says it mainly used to enhance the apps for Android users. Later, the company also ramped up to grow the preview to more beta testers in early January.

All the applications need you to have a Microsoft account, but once you are done with the set up part, you will need to develop and edit documents for free during a one-month trial. Once your free trial is up, you can easily sign up for a subscription to Office 365 with a lot of tiered subscription plans for both small and large businesses down to individual users.

Moreover, Office preview applications for Android work on tablets that are running Android KitKat 4.4, which will also have 7-inch screens or larger. You are also capable of using the final apps on an Android tablet running Lollipop; however, Microsoft is not supporting officially this OS quite yet.
