Windows Phone 8

Here’s a look at some of the specific features that are new for Windows 8.1 operating systems on different phones:

SkyDrive:

If you’ve not heard of the cloud concept for file storage, you need to catch up! Luckily, Windows 8 phones give you access to SkyDrive which can help you sync your photos among multiple devices, including home computer, tablet and your smartphone!

Search:

Another positive feature of Windows 8.1 OS is the new search capabilities. You’ll be searching Bing, but you may end up being surprised at everything you’re able to discover easily and without hassles or headaches.

Maps:

You’re also going to get access to some great map apps as well. Whether you just want to look at a location on a map or you need driving directions, your Windows 8 phone is going to be able to help you.

IE 11:

Internet Explorer 11 is really pretty amazing. If you haven’t tried IE in a while, you need to give it a chance. When you’re surfing on small devices like a mobile phone or bigger screens like a tablet or laptop, you’re going to be able to get to any website you want to read.

Windows Store:

You’re also going to get access to the Windows Store where you can pick up tons of useful apps for your phone – a lot of them free or with free versions so you can try them out before you buy. This is a great way to get more use out of your phone.

Touchscreen:

This isn’t unique to Windows 8, but having a responsive touchscreen that doesn’t go on the fritz all the time is one of the reasons a lot of people love their Windows Phone. Just make sure you keep the touchscreen clean. You might consider getting a protector for it so it doesn’t damage too easily.

No matter what brand of phone you have currently, if it’s running Windows 8, there’s a good chance you’re very happy with it. Microsoft has lagged behind in mobile for a while, but they’re really starting to step up their game, and products like the new Windows 8.1 OS really show that they listen to what people want and are trying to provide it.
